WELCOME

Maybe you’re exhausted from trying to figure it all out, maybe you’re in a lot of pain, or maybe you’re tired of the struggles of each day and you need a break. Life can be ridiculously hard. Whatever you are feeling today, I’m glad you’re here.

My own journey has brought me here and I know that healing is possible. Feeling stuck and not seeing a way out is a really hard way to live. The brokenness we all experience can be so overwhelming that we feel we can’t go another day. My goal is to help you identify the strengths you have and discover your own resilience.

ABOUT ME

Owner, MA, LMFTA

Who I Am. I’m a Raleigh native, coffee lover, foodie, and Tarheel for life. My passion for working with people who have experienced trauma stems from my own life experiences and education about how the brain and body hold trauma. I believe people have a deep longing to feel heard and understood. The effects of trauma can manifest in so many different ways, and often we may not even recognize how we have been impacted. It is my hope that by working together and tapping into the strengths you have, you can live a connected, peaceful, and meaningful life.

What I Want to Tell You. If we were to sit down and have a cup of coffee, I would tell you that I work from an understanding of how the brain’s pathways form through experiences (whether traumatic or developmental) and how we can sometimes get stuck in really damaging and unhelpful thought patterns. Our earliest forms of attachment with our caregivers/parents are incredibly important in how we attach in future relationships. I utilize various frameworks to help you process what you’re facing in your daily life. My top priority is that you feel heard, understood, and accepted. I strive to provide a warm, empathetic, and genuine environment as we set goals for our time together.

What I’ve Learned. So often, we are taught to think in a distorted and self-destructive fashion…..black and white thinking, catastrophizing a single situation, and shame spiraling, for instance. The thought shift that has been life changing for me is, BOTH—AND. Something can have been both challenging AND productive. Traumatic AND growth-producing. I can have a healthy relationship, AND feel disappointed. My disappointment does not have to detract from or completely color the relationship.

How I Work. In clinical terms, I work through the lens of attachment utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization Processing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gottman Method, and client-focused therapy. I have an undergraduate degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master’s degree from Abilene Christian University. I am trained in EMDR through EMDRIA. I am under the direct supervision of Caroline von Helms, LMFT-S.

Accepting and loving the wounded parts of us is the essence of living well. The ancient Japanese art of Kinsugi embraces and celebrates imperfections by joining broken pieces with gold. This process celebrates the beauty that occurs in our day to day lives, teaching us to lean into the unexpected toward connection, peace, and resilience.
